Lately I’ve been thinking about college football a lot and this is a very flawed league as a lot of the leagues are now a days but the one thing that really grinds my gears is the college football playoffs. The problem is that only four teams get to be in it… well that doesn’t feel like a playoff to me considering there is 130 teams that compete in division 1. That stat right there should show how messed up the process is for declaring the best teams.

Still not convinced the system is bad well allow me to further rant. Think about the college basketball tournament and the fact that there is 68 teams entered into that. Now I know football can be more physically demanding but even the NFL allows 12 of their 32 teams into the playoffs. Even in little league football the bracket for deciding league champions was more competitive than college football is today.

Now I am somewhat biased because my team is in the Pac 12 who of the last six years this new playoff has been in place only two teams have ever made it to the playoff. Now before it was a four team playoff it was basically rare to see a Pac 12 team competing for a national title.

A larger tournament would give teams a chance to play new teams that they never get to play every year and I think it would make the talent spread out a little bit more and it would help grow programs that aren’t as big as your top schools. The issue is the money and these top schools are content with winning their title every couple years and not having to work as hard as everyone else to get the chance to win a national title.

Anyways that is it for the college football playoff, I would love to see it change and if the NCAA wants it to stay relevant then they will have to change.

As some of my readers know I am a WSU cougars fan and yesterday which was December 12th was a rough day because Cougar football was canceled. It is hard to decide what to say about this and it is definitely sad because I know that these guys work so hard and it is a let down for them not to get to play and compete. Especially when they are warming up on the field and all ready to go and then just like that there is no game.

Part of me wants to be mad at the Pac 12 because of their failure to implement a way to make it so we can still have games. Not only does our conference have one of the shorter seasons but it also has had multiple cancelations a week. The Pac 12 brand already struggles to be known as a power house for football and now it can be questioned more than ever.

To be fair this is a very hard time for a lot of people and everyone is doing the best they can to make things just seem normal. It is interesting how striving for normal is the focal point for everyone in the world right now.

In conclusion, I am sad there was no WSU football but I will survive and they have a game scheduled for next week so hopefully they get to play that game. If they don’t get to play I am content that I have at least gotten to watch a few games this year even if we did have to play two of the best teams in our conference.

So lots of things circulating the NFL currently but I really don’t care to talk about a lot of the controversial issues so I’m gonna talk about the fact that DeSean Jackson suggested putting mics on players during games this season.

With the possibility of the limited fans in stadiums the Philadelphia wide receiver made this remark a few days ago. Now this is something the XFL did a little bit of and it was very interesting and I think added a different level to watching the game. This may be problematic though because from my understanding there may be a lot of language not appropriate for children. This is not bashing the NFL players for this it’s just the way the game is and kids really look up to these guys.

Now I came up with a few solutions to these issues for example players having to have a mic in their uniform, when I heard there’s a potential of wearing a mask (there is very little chance of this but I heard the rumor.) So maybe we have mics on officials so that they pick up player voices but the players don’t have the extra weird bulk inside the uniform.

Another solution to players and the language they use is having like a 20 or 30 second TV delay. But that means it’s someone job to hammer that bleep button which is a lot of work and wouldn’t wish that job on anyone. Also with the way technology is we’d be seeing updates on our phones before we saw it on TV which would make people upset most likely. I mean I can say the same for me who doesn’t want to watch things in real time.

In my closing opinion here I’d have to say that it would be so cool to be able to hear the chatter between players and the hits on a different level. Although, I am not naive to the NFL and how much they love their image so I really can’t see this happening. I however do think they need something to make the game connect with people more if fans can’t come watch and I don’t have a solution for them but that’s not my job so I’m sure they’ll think of something.

As always thanks for reading and let me know if there’s anything you want me to write on!

Wow it really has been a while and there is so much to cover but right now I think I wanna talk towards my home state of Washington about this future NHL team.

I know hockey is kind of a foreign sport with it not being quite as big as baseball, football, basketball or even soccer really so I think this is a good chance for everyone to learn a little bit more about the sport including myself.

My biggest thing I want to mention is what is the name going to be? My prediction is the Kraken mostly because to start a game having the lights go dark and putting Davey Jones from Pirates KD the Caribbean up on the screen and having him say “release the kraken” and then the team skates out. Can you even imagine how epic that could be??? Another name in the running is the Metropolitans for some reason but I’m not a huge fan of that really. Kraken can keep those famous blue and green colors that those Seattle fans love so much.

Anyways amongst all this Covid-19 stuff I’m concerned for the team because what will it look like with getting players and putting a team together. I know it’s not for a while but still it’s never too early to start looking at young players that might be able to carry a franchise in 2 or 3 years.

In conclusion, they need to get some more information about the team released because now is the perfect time to bring some good news to the USA honestly. Also, imagine the amount of fan gear sales if season tickets sold out in like 10 minutes… I mean talk about some serious cash even I would be trying to order some form of gear.

Tomorrow April 23rd is draft day and I am so excited. In preparation for this day I wanted to do my own sort of mock draft. But upon realizing how much research I was going to have to do only for me to probably be wrong I decided I would just do a quick top ten pick projection. Now some of these picks are going to be fairly obvious but I find that fairly often the first picks are fairly straight forward.

#1 Cincinnati Bengals are going to select Joe Burrow, QB from LSU.

#2 Washington Redskins select Chase Young, DE from Ohio State.

#3 Miami Dolphins select Tua Tagovailoa, QB from Alabama. (TRADE with Lions for pick)

#4 New York Giants select Jedrick Willis Jr., OL from Alabama.

#5 Detroit Lions select Jeff Okudah, CB from Alabama.

#6 LA Chargers select Justin Herbert, QB from Oregon.

#7 Carolina Panthers select Isaiah Simmons, LB from Clemson.

#8 Arizona Cardinals select Tristan Wirfs, OT from Alabama

#9 Jacksonville Jaguars select Derrick Brown, DT from Auburn.

#10 Cleveland Browns select Andrew Thomas, OT from Georgia.

Well there you have it, I don’t have a ton more to say because we won’t know until tomorrow but I am fairly confident I will be at least 8/10. As always thanks for reading and let me know if you have anything else you want me to write about.

To be fair I’m a little behind on the topic of this post but it’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while.

The Masters is a yearly tradition that is on par with the Super Bowl for me and this year we didn’t get a chance to watch that. This is especially rough because of how exciting it was that Tiger Woods won last year. So, after one of the most exciting Masters tournaments in my life it is now taken away from us.

Let’s talk about the last time there was no Masters. The year was 1945 and the tournament wasn’t put on from 1943-45 because of World War II. I never thought in my life would we see a time where this beloved tournament is canceled.

I guess this is more of a reminiscing post because the Masters is also something me and my father watch together. I’m sure like many Americans sports is something shared with my dad and so especially right now we are in difficult times without sports.

My prediction for this years green jacket winner I think will be Brooks Koepka. The guy is a beast hitting the golf ball and so much fun to watch. Now this is all assuming the tournament happens this year still and isn’t canceled for good.

Well that is all for now I know golf isn’t the most exciting sport in the world but it’s one I really enjoy so if anyone wants more golf stuff or anything else let me know. Thanks for reading!

Back to back days of posting wow who would’ve thought but quarantine has me thinking of a lot of things to write about.

Today we look at the potential draft landing spots for the Alabama legend Tua Tagovailoa. The former national champion is coming off a gruesome hip injury from last season.

Tua has been working out and looking right on track for being a impact player for next season. Experts are projecting him to be the 3rd overall pick in the draft and currently the Detroit Lions have this spot. The Lions have Matthew Stafford who they seem to be set on after all these years of him being there. Which is kind of a shocker to me after never making the playoffs but that’s an issue for another time.

So I’ll be looking at some potential trade options here for the Lions and evaluating which team Tua would be best suited on.

First off we have the Miami Dolphins which are only a few spots behind the Lions so this makes a ton of sense for the Lions to likely still get who they want two picks later. The Dolphins are a bit of a train wreck and I think having a guy with the work ethic of Tua come in may be able to turn this franchise around a little. With no Tom Brady in that division it really is anyone’s division to win it feels like.

Next, there is the Los Angelos Chargers who trades away Phillip Rivers who I talked about in Post 1. Now they are in a place where they are desperate for a QB so they potentially may be willing to sell the farm so to speak to get Tua. I think Tua would succeed here with weapons like Keenan Allen and Austin Ekeler so this may be a fun offense to watch if he ends up here.

Finally, there’s rumors of those Las Vegas Raiders wanting him. Now you may think did I just read that right but yes they are officially the Las Vegas Raiders for next season. The Raiders aren’t quite as desperate because they have Derek Carr but after releasing some big players last season they have the cap space for a player like Tua. I doubt Tua will end up here but what better way to rebrand your moved franchise then a big star like Tua coming to town.

So there’s the three likely landing places for Tua Tagovailoa. My prediction is the Chargers mostly because I would just like to see him there I think that it would be very entertaining. Again though who knows what will happen draft day maybe some team comes out of nowhere to get him at the last minute that’s the beauty of the NFL draft.

Well with the fact that there is no sports I haven’t had a lot to write about. But something came up recently that I am interested in.

So apparently the NBA may be having some sort of Horse competition. For those of you that don’t know what Horse is it’s a shooting game where players take turns making a shot and the following player has to also make it. If the following player misses he an H and so on until Horse is spelt and that player is out.

Now as of right now the speculation is that Chris Paul and Trae Young and Zach LaVine will be participating. This is basically going to take place through videos on social media I believe.

So why do we care… well I’ve taken this opportunity to break down these 3 players and speculate my winner. First there is CP3 who’s been in the league forever and has a good jumper but who doesn’t so I’m kind of ruling him out. Now we have Trae Young who really can shoot from deep so there’s more faith in him for me. Finally there is Zach LaVine who is a 2 time slam dunk champion so there’s a huge advantage over these other 2 shorter guys.

My winner I believe will be Trae Young this rising star has great range and this is a shooting game so I think with his skill he will be the champion. There’s plenty of social media videos of him making some wild shots in practice or for fun and also in games.

Hopefully this will be an entertaining way to have some basketball in our lives while sports are still canceled.

Not quite sure how to really name each post but I figured I’d start out just numbering them as I go in order to be able to go back and reference past posts. Anyways let us get into this first post.

Today I will talk about a few of the quarterbacks in the NFL I believe will succeed now that they are on a new team. First off let’s address the most popular of the quarterback trades Tom Brady. The six time champ is headed to Tampa Bay and now has one of the top weapons in the league in Mike Evans who has had at least 1,000+ yards receiving every season since being drafted in 2014. Not to mention Chris Goodwin who in his sophomore season last year got his first 1,000 yard season. So now having the”GOAT” as their quarterback this offense will be pretty deadly and I think Tampa will succeed. I see them definitely making the playoffs the only question is if they are a top spot or wild card with having to play the Saints twice for the division title.

Next, we have Phillip Rivers who also was traded this off season after being with San Diego since 2004. The long time veteran is heading to Indianapolis where unfortunately for him he isn’t getting great options on offense. T.Y. Hilton and Jack Doyle are really the only options and that is not an offense I see as going on a deep run in the playoffs. Now maybe the Colts draft a wide receiver like they are projected to and that would be a good addition for a young player like Jerry Jeudy from Alabama or CeeDee Lamb from Oklahoma to learn from a veteran like Hilton. If this happens I become more confident in the Colts postseason dreams.

Finally, there is Nick Foles and honestly he is a bit of a wildcard. He wins the super bowl for the Eagles and then goes to the Jaguars where he is injured then loses his starting spot to the rookie Gardner Minshew. So honestly maybe he will bounce back in Chicago but at the same time this may be the last we see of Foles in the NFL because of the fact that the Bears just aren’t great and don’t have a big name offensive guy to help Foles out. He does have a few so-so guys though so who knows no one would’ve bet on the Eagles when he was there with that supporting offensive cast and they won the super bowl. I guess the bottom line is Foles can’t be ruled out this year and as for the Bears overall I see them probably a middle of the road team missing the playoffs once again.
